Wild Bees

There is an article this weekend in the Daily Telegraph describing an investigation into the pollination of strawbwerries by both honeybees and wild bees.

It started me thinking about our bee plans for next year and what our objectives ought to be beyond maximising our honey crop.

One of our additional aims could be to make sure that the wild bee habitats on the BHG smallholding are prospering. I don’t have the observational skills or the knowledge to find or understand how wild bees are fairing on Blakeney Hill but it wouldn’t be too difficult to research the types of habitat where they could be encouraged to set up home and then  to set up a number of habitats.
